Time for another foodie frenzy

"Chez Mouquin" by William Glackens, 1905

I love to cook and bake. But I also love to go out to eat at a restaurant, enjoy the fine dining experience and have someone who takes pride in providing the best service possible in a fun and friendly way.  And, it seems like some of the best memories with family and friends tend to involve a meal or a tasty treat.

So, it’s no surprise that I’m looking forward to Eat Downtown, Duluth Restaurant Week.  Actually, out of all of the promotions and events provided by the Greater Downtown Council, Eat Downtown is one of the most popular. Who can resist multi-course meals at a fixed price for one week?

Duluth Restaurant Week is back on March 6-10 this year, with 20 of your favorite downtown waterfront restaurants teaming up for this foodie frenzy. By uniting, these restaurants have a broader reach, plus they are offering a fun week to diners by showcasing various courses. It’s a great way to encourage people to get out during a typically slower time of the year and it’s a fantastic deal for the restaurant-goers.

Participating in the event this spring are 7 West TapHouse, Bellisio’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, Black Water Lounge, The Blind Pig Gastro Pub & Ale House, Canal Park Brewing Co., Cloud 9 Asian Bistro, Dubh Linn Pub, Fitger’s Brewhouse, Hanabi, Lark O’ the Lake Café, Little Angie’s Cantina and Grill, Pickwick Restaurant & Pub, Pizza Luce, Restaurant 301, Silos Restaurant, Sir Benedict’s Tavern on the Lake, Toasty’s, Va Bene Caffe, Valentini’s Vicino Lago and Zeitgeist Arts Café.

Enjoy a $10 lunch or a $25 dinner at any participating restaurant. And best of all, we can help you plan ahead. You can find all of the participating restaurants and their menus at downtownduluth.com/eat-downtown. If you are like me, you enjoy looking through each of the menus and plotting your course of restaurants for the week.

So start planning your lunch meetings and dinner dates now. As we continuously take feedback on this event and look for ways to ensure it is a win-win for the restaurants and the diners, please note this Restaurant Week runs Monday through Friday. We’re anxious to hear what you have to say as our restaurants are trying something new in hopes of continuing to provide the best level of service, an amazing meal and a great experience for everyone.
