Jack Eldon Munter, 82, of Esko, died Thursday, November 9, 2017 in St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth. He was born October 6, 1935 in Sawyer, MN, the son of Leonard and Isabelle Munter. Jack was a 1953 graduate of Carlton High School.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Jack married Ruby Swanson on January 1, 1955 in Carlton.
Jack held his faith and family far above anything in his life and both brought him the greatest joy. He was employed by Potlatch Corporation for more than 30 years and retired as head purchasing agent in 1997. Jack served on the board of WLSSD, the Esko Town Board, was an assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 152 of Esko, was a member of Lakehead Harvest Reunion, Duluth Auto Racing Association, and Academy of Model Aeronautics. Jack was an active member of Esko Apostolic Lutheran Church where he also served on the church board. He enjoyed four-wheeling, flying model airplanes, hunting and fishing, racing stock cars and was a wonderful singer and guitar player, wrote several songs and played in the band, "Just Friends".
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randy Munter and daughter, Kathi "Sam" Munter.
Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby of Esko; children, Kenneth (Diana) Munter and Wendy (Bruce) Bergstedt, both of Esko; grandchildren, Josh Bergstedt, Amy (Shawn) Bloss, Ben (Libby) Bergstedt, Molly Bergstedt, Erik Bergstedt, Michael Munter, Ciro Munter and Erika Munter; great grandchildren, Jack Bergstedt, Maiya Bloss, Barrett Bloss, Mikko Bergstedt and Maila Bergstedt.
Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m., Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Esko Apostolic Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue Monday from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service in the church. Burial will be in the spring in Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Esko Apostolic Lutheran Church or Inter-Lutheran Seminary.
