Dianne C. (Takkunen) Mealer, 68, of Blaine, Minn., passed away peacefully at her home on March 17, 2017 after a five month battle with cancer.

Dianne was born in Duluth on Feb. 25, 1949 to Wilmer and Florence (Hautajarvi) Takkunen.

Dianne grew up in Kettle River where she attended elementary school and graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1967. Following high school, she attended St. Cloud State and the University of Minnesota before going to work as a bookkeeper in the mobile home business. She then met John Mealer, whom she married in Chugiak, Alaska on Nov. 27, 1978. John and Dianne ran businesses in Duluth, Alaska, and Eveleth before moving to Marathon, Fla., in 1985. Dianne went back to school in April 1998, at Florida International University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and later earned a Master's degree from F.I.U. in 1999. She then moved back to Minnesota and worked as a CPA in the Twin Cities until the time of her death, last employed by Timothy & Associates.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in November 1999; brother, Leonard Takkunen; niece, Rebecca Takkunen; and step-granddaughter, Jennifer Mealer.

Survived by brothers, Lyle (Judith) Takkunen, Larry (Diane) Takkunen, and Curtis (fiance Laura Newton) Takkunen; step-daughters, Fran (Darrell) Koskela and Wendy McKay; step-son, Kirk Mealer; sisters-in-law, Judy Takkunen and Debbie Seppanen; step-grandson, Rodney Miller; six nieces; seven nephews, a loving and compassionate family of AA friends, her precious dog "Princess", and a host of brothers and sisters in faith.

VISITATION: 12 Noon until the 2 p.m. memorial service on Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, 14000 129th Ave N, Dayton Minn. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
