River cleanup is Saturday
The St. Louis River Alliance will hold its annual river cleanup 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 in the Superior Municipal Forest near the Archery Range. Work will take place rain or shine unless there is thunder or lightning in the vicinity.
Volunteers can show up at the Archery Range in the Superior Municipal Forest. There will be someone there to indicate parking area. Driving directions from Duluth: Take the Bong Bridge to Superior and follow HWY 2 to Elmira Avenue to 42nd St. Parking will be at the Archery Range. From Superior: Follow Elmira Avenue to 42nd st to the Archery Range Parking area.
Volunteers may sign up for one, two or three hours The city of Superior will provide gloves, bags, buckets and litter pickers and pick up of the garbage. Drinking water will be provided. Hip boots are recommended for those who wish to tackle the removal of items from the water near shore.
