Duluth celebrates Arbor Day
Duluth is celebrating Arbor Day with a free family event on 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 at Duluth’s Main Library, 520 W. Superior St.
John Schmidt, chair of the Duluth Parks and Recreation Commission will be the master of ceremonies. Louise Levy of Levy Tree Service will provide remarks on “Why We Need Trees and More of Them and How to Care for the Trees You Love.” Duluth’s first-ever Steward of Trees will be honored with a certificate. Locally known musician Steve Daleger will lead a sing along. Creative activities and face painting for children will be provided. The Lorax will make an appearance. Ten young fruit trees will be door prizes for adults who sign up for a drawing.
Visit the DNR’s website for a “Daily Dose of Trees” all month and you can also post a video or photo showing your appreciation of trees.
Spring Arbor Day in Duluth is a joint effort by Duluth Parks and Recreation, League of Women Voters Duluth, and Duluth Urban Forest Commission.
