Earth Day in Duluth


 The March for Science-Duluth joins 480 other marches around the world on Saturday, April 22. The event begins 10 a.m. at Leif Erickson Park with a short session of science speakers, then proceeds west along Duluth's Lakewalk to the Maritime Museum. Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center hosts a free Earth Day Celebration 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on April 22 at the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, 600 Canal Park Drive. US Army Corps of Engineers, USDA Forest Service, Western Lake Superior Sanitary District, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, Sappi Fine Paper, University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners, and MN Sea Grant will have activity tables.

Duluth Parents for Healthy Playgrounds is raising money to help Duluth Public Schools remove tire mulch from the playgrounds and resurface with wood fiber. Every dollar raised up to $30,000 will be matched by an existing playgrounds improvement fund. A fundraiser is 4:30-7:30 p.m. on April 22 at Skyline Lodge, 4894 Miller Trunk Highway with food, fun, cash bar, silent auction and prize drawings.
