CHUM hosts legislative send-off
CHUM (Churches United in Ministry) will hold a legislative send-off 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29 at 120 N. First Ave. W.
The event is an opportunity for members of the CHUM community, including local clergy and congregation members, to send Minnesota legislators off to the Capitol with an interfaith blessing. This event also allows those who access services at CHUM to have time to speak to the legislators before they leave for the 2017 Legislative Session. This is a time for legislators to hear what those experiencing homelessness and poverty want to see for the future of our community.
CHUM will also publically release and discuss our 2017 Legislative Agenda at this event. CHUM's legislative priorities include:
• Homes for All Campaign which will increase funding for affordable housing
• Prosperity for All Campaign includes increasing MFIP support by $100 a month
• Restoring Voting Rights to those with felonies after release from incarceration
• Raising reimbursement rates for dentists working with Medical Assistance and Medicare patients.
