Babies Need Boxes expands in Duluth
In Minnesota, there are 60-90 cases of sudden infant deaths each year. Research shows that unsafe sleep arrangements are often common in these cases. Babies Need Boxes seeks to change this by providing mothers with a maternity package that offers a safe sleep space and newborn essentials to aid in the first few months of baby's life.
On Tuesday, April 12, Babies Need Boxes of Duluth delivered seven baby boxes to its newest partner, Head Start, at the Barnes Early Childhood Center. This partnership provided mothers-to-be in the Duluth area with a baby box fitted with a mattress for safe sleeping and newborn supplies such as baby shampoo, lotion, diapers, wipes, a blanket and more.
Babies Need Boxes Duluth gave away their first seven boxes to Life House in January 2016. They have since given away eight more boxes to local organizations that work with at-risk families.
