Thank a Vietnam vet
"Celebrate Vietnam Vets" is a free public event 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29 in the Great Hall of the Depot, 506 W. Michigan St. The event honors Vietnam-era veterans who served honorably anywhere in the world between 1961 and 1975.
St. Louis County Historical Society staff and volunteers will conduct tours of Veterans' Memorial Hall, schedule future veteran and family member oral history interviews and provide information on the collection and preservation of military artifacts. The event will be documented by photos and video.
The VA Vet Center staff will also provide an opportunity for veterans to sign up for future contact regarding veteran services. Free foods popular during the Vietnam era will be served.
Veterans and their families are encouraged to bring any photographs available of service members that were taken during their active service period. These will be posted during the event and returned. Everyone who has a military branch logo hat is also encouraged to wear them.
