Donate a bicycle

The 10th annual Bike Swap, a fundraiser for Head of the Lakes United Way, takes place April 22-24. People wishing to support the event are encouraged to start donating bikes now.

Continental Ski & Bike, the Bike Swap's event creator, again hosts this year's event at its Superior Street location, 1305 E. First St.

Last year over 550 bikes were sold to raise over $13,000 for the United Way. Lines stretched down the block for bike testing and participating vendor booths.

The Head of the Lakes United Way benefits with 25 percent of each bike sale going directly to four core service areas: education, income stability, access to health care services and basic human services. Donors may choose to have 100 percent of the proceeds go to the United Way.

People may donate anytime the store is open, Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
