Nothing says summer like baseball

Karpeles Museum, 902 E. First St., will host a gallery talk to highlight its current exhibition on the history of baseball at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Anthony Bush and Scott Cummings will use the historical manuscripts to tell the story of baseball in American history and culture. Attendees are invited to share their stories about the history of baseball in Duluth.

Duluth native Anthony Bush is a member of the Halsey Hall Chapter of the Society For American Baseball Research. He has been published in the Budgeteer, sabr.org, zenithcity.com and the Proctor Journal. His essay on the history of Wade Stadium has been printed in the Duluth Huskies program in 2013 and 2015.

Scott Cummings, past officer of the Society for American Baseball Research in Minneapolis, is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth, where his senior paper in mathematics was "Sabermetric Defense: The Death of Fielding Percentage." He blogs for Twinsdaily.com.
