Wehmanen to serve maximum time
A St. Louis County judge sentenced Joseph Wehmanen Monday to 12 1/2 years in prison for killing Eric Schrieffer. The sentence is the full amount allowed under the plea bargain.
Wehmanen admitted last month that he ran over Schrieffer and hid his body in the St. Louis River. Wehmanen pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges in exchange for disclosing where he hid Schrieffer's body.
Schrieffer's family said the sentence was not stiff enough.
At the hearing, Wehmanen said he was sorry for what happened, but maintains that he ran over Schrieffer by accident.
