March 1st, 2011 North State Services announced it will begin offering the Pink Cart™, a bright-pink waste and recycling cart supporting breast cancer awareness, to its customers throughout Cloquet, Esko, Carlton, Grand lake, Saginaw, Solway, Pike Lake, Proctor & Hermantown.
The Pink Cart program (www.thepinkcart.com), developed by Cascade Cart Solutions in collaboration with the American Cancer Society®, enables households and businesses nationwide to make an important an visible demonstration of their support for the fight against breast cancer. Five dollars from each Pink Cart purchase will support the Society's breast cancer awareness programs.
North State Services has chosen the Pink Cart (FREE to our customers) as its ONLY color to help our customers remember the importance of early detection & awareness of breast cancer. To continue the research, North State Services in the month of October, will match customer donations up to $1.00 for the Breast Cancer Awareness Programs.
The Pink Cart displays the American Cancer Society's powerful Making Strides Against Breast Cancer ribbon logo, which is widely recognized as a way to honor breast cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease and support the progress we're making to defeat breast cancer. The lid of each cart also displays early detection and health tips on a large in-mold label. The carts are made from 100-percent-recyclabel plastic.
"We're excited to team with haulers across the country to raise awareness about a disease that continues to take the lives of tens of thousands of women each year," said Jo-Anne Perkins, General Manager of Cascade Engineering's Cascade Cart Solutions business unit. "One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, and we are hoping that as Pink Carts begin to line curbs across the country that each cart will inspire conversations about breast cancer and lead to greater awareness of the disease."
In 2009, more than 190,000 women learned they had breast cancer and more than, 40,000 died from the disease.
