.The smell of popcorn permeated the halls at Lakeview Christian Academy on Monday afternoon. In the gymnasium, children squealed with delight at sumo wrestling, a bouncy house and a chance to douse a teacher in the dunk tank. Outside, ponies trotted in the fenced front yard and parents gathered in a line as barbecue filled the air.

The event was a Fall Harvest Fellowship for this non-denominational academy. "It's a chance for parents to sit and visit," said Angela Benson, director of marketing and special events. The Chamber of Commerce also helped celebrate with a ribbon-cutting to mark the 35th year. The academy has been at the Central Entrance location since 1994.

Benson estimated that 400 people attended the event. The school has 255 students in grades K-12.
