How to navigate MNsure

Surrounded by an assortment of "navigators," Dexter Ojeda, 7, leans against his mother, Jenny St. George, while she tells her story of obtaining health insurance for her children. A presentation on MNsure's open enrollment was held on Tuesday at the Duluth Public Library's main branch. Karen Walter, left, of Community Action Duluth, helped St. George find her way or "navigate" the Minnesota health care insurance system. Fifteen agencies employ "navigators" to provide free assistance with health care insurance enrollment. Call the United Way help line at 211 to reach a navigator.

The basics

- Open enrollment through the health insurance marketplace began Nov. 15 and continues through Feb. 15. However, Dec. 15 is the deadline for coverage to begin on Jan. 1.

- Navigators are available at the Lake Superior Community Health Center Health Care Access Offices in Duluth and Superior, Community Action Duluth, CHUM, Salvation Army Duluth, the Duluth Public Library and the Women's Health Center.
