Duluth pastor to preach at national gathering
Cathy Schuyler, pastor of the Duluth Congregational Church, will preach at the annual meeting of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches (NACCC) on Sunday, June 24. Schuyler offers this spiritual leadership for the delegates from 400 churches who will congregate in Minneapolis June 23-26.
At its June 2011 gathering in Orlando, Fla., the Association recognized Schuyler with its "Sermon of the Year" award for "Compassion Is the Foundation," delivered in Duluth earlier that year. This year's meeting is hosted by the Minnesota Fellowship of Congregationalists.
The NACCC, a network of self-governing congregations, was formed in 1955, nine years before the gathering of the Duluth Congregational Church, thirteen years before their building at 3833 E. Superior St. was dedicated.
The Duluth church in 2007 called Schuyler from Long Island, New York, to serve as its pastor. She also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Congregational Foundation for Theological Studies, an NACCC division charged with the support and formation of candidates for ordained ministry.
