Teddy bears take to the ice
Hockey pucks won't be the only things careening about at the Friday, Dec. 13, University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey game against Western Michigan University. Northwestern Mutual is sponsoring a "teddy bear toss" as a fundraiser for Arc Northland.
Teddy bears will be tossed onto the ice between the 2nd and 3rd periods of the game. The bears will be donated to United Way of Carlton County and LSS Crisis Nursery.
Teddy bears can be purchased at the game for $10 apiece or in advance at the Arc Northland office, 424 W. Superior Street, Suite 201.
The money raised will benefit Arc Northland's self-advocacy and parent support groups, including People First, Family Fun Night, Extreme Parenting and the FASD family group.
Arc Northland is an organization which works to create equal opportunities for quality living and to enhance dignity and respect for people with disabilities and their families.
